Hi everyone in Beaumont Wilshire land. I'm sending this out in case you'd
like to start being involved in Earthday planning for 2007. Bob New is
organizing Earth Day this year and it's going to be in our neck of the
woods. So, I'd like to suggest that people get involved. This is City
Repair event, too, so there will be lots of opportunities for us to get
involved, and learn skills that we can bring to our neighborhood. If you'd
like to join the e-mail list for City Repair/Earth Day, please contact Bob
at the address below or visit the City Repair website and figure out how to
get on the list.
This past Earth Day was a fantastic event and I'm sure this year's will be
even better. I'm excited that it's taking place in the Northeast!

We will be talking about volunteer needs for the next few months. Here are a
few big roles to be filled:
1) Volunteer Coordinator (keep track of the many people helping)
2) Fundraising Coordinator (Sponsors, fundraising events...many great ideas
from the community already)
3) Community Music (help Joy, our Entertainment Coordinator find all the
local talent)
4) Outreach Coordinator (reach out to organizations, businesses, schools,
etc)
5) Kids' Village Coordinator (Woodlawn School is right next
door...after-school planning a possibility)
6) Booth Coordination (help Aaron, our Booth Coordinator, in picking all the
green and sustainable businesses and organizations)
7) Food Coordination (ok, ok, we need more food booths AND volunteers get
hungy~yum!)
8) Better Transportation Fair Coordinator (link up to SHIFT, BTA, biodiesel
and more)
9) Service Project Coordinator (the neighbors would love to have a
neighborhood clean-up as told to us at the T-Horse event)
10) Bike rides and Parade (work with PDOT to encourage people to bike to
Earth Day and let's have a great big parade in the middle of the day!)
11) Neighborhood support (talk to the neighbors, attend the neighborhood
association meetings and more!)
12) Logistics (permits, toilets and tents, oh my!)
13) Publicity (posters, website updates, media connections)
