Minutes of Beaumont/Wilshire Neighborhood Association
General meeting February 9, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 7:34  p.m.

Minutes for the December 2003 meeting were approved..

Treasurer's Report was approved:
Beginning balance:	$5999.47
Less checks:		$      0.0
Deposits:		$ 250.00
Ending Balance:	$6249.47

Pat Caroll from the "Construction Contractor's Board", a state agency which 
licenses all contractors, gave a presentation on how to avoid problems when 
dealing with the construction industry. She passed out two booklets "16 
Ways to avoid Remodeling, Repair and Construction Problems" and "How to 
Avoid Being a Victim of Construction Fraud".

Portland Public Schools and David Comeray from the architect firm 
Barrentine Bates Lee gave a presentation on the Meek School. The passed out 
a copy of the good neighbor agreement and showed the latest site layout 
proposal. They expect to update the good neighbor agreement yearly. There 
was some mention of possible free oil changes for area residents in their 
automotive shop.

Heidi talked of tree planting.

Lisa said some newsletter routes and captain positions are open . A captain 
picks up about 330 newsletters and distributes them to about 7 people who 
actually pass them out to homes in their immediate area. One person 
reported that passing them out takes 20 min, another one hour for 66 houses.

Patrick reported that some PSU grad students are considering a safe streets 
project for Fremont street. It would look at safety for cars, busses, 
pedestrians and bicycles.

City council candidate Nick Fish was introduced, gave a brief talk and took 
a few questions.
