Minutes of Beaumont Wilshire Neighborhood Association Board meeting July
14, 2003
The meeting opened at 7:33 pm
In attendance: Melissa Ritter, David de la Rocha, Jim Karlock, Glen Bolen,
Marj Cannon, Margaret Davis, Julia Haykin, Bill Markwart, Greg Schramm,
Patrick Sweeney, Barbara Warren-Sams, David Whitaker, Helen Koba, Willie Nolan
Dave gave the treasurers report: opening balance (6/8/2003)= $3884.15, less
checks & charges = 0, plus deposits = $540. Ending balance = $4424.15
Melissa Ritter reported enquiries from the public about property disputes
and 5am music at Starbucks. Deana Stack supplied a copy of the board
member's handbook in both paper and electronic form. Melissa agreed to post
the electronic copy.
Julia reported on the picnic preparations. Costco gave $25. Odwalla was
generous. Went through list of picnic preparations and last minute action
items.
Scott Stevens, Pacific Power and Light employee and Woodstock neighborhood
association President visited with a bribe (quite good cookies.).
Marge discussed senior projects: how to connect seniors with seniors,
liability issues, Project Linkage might match (and screen) neighborhood
volunteers with seniors.
The following committee reports were given:
Ted on Fremont fest
Patrick - Land use meetings are on hold until Sept. Updated the Walking
Map project.
Barbara - Tree Planting will be March 13 in co-operation with Concordia
Neighborhood Association..
Patrick mentioned that Karlock's setting up his camera at last month's
general meeting was distracting. Karlock reported that he had purchased a
quieter tripod.
Greg mentioned the Cully Neighborhood Association community garden.
Discussion of Pacific Power's possible presentation. Pacific Power wants to
better connect with neighborhoods. Topics might include energy efficiency.
Jim Karlock commented that any presentation by Pacific power before the
upcoming election to establish a PUD would be inherently political.
Glen Bolen mentioned the possibility of creating a neighborhood circulation
plan and changing the Fremont speed limit.
The meeting was adjourned
